Michelle,
It sounds like life is really hectic and stressed for you right now.
(Understandably)
I think (my opinion only based on my experience) that stress and the way we
handle it plays a huge role in the functioning of our diseased thyroids.
Stress alone causes many problems for the general public - many health
problems - it seems it would affect us doubly. I am currently on no meds 6
weeks post op after thyroidectomy (I have RAI this friday and resume meds on
Sat. Yay!!!) I had thyroid cancer w/ multinodular goiter/Hashi's - I'm that
small percent that does have it all. My point here - and I do have one - it
that the days I am not handling the stress well (I resist for whatever reason
to relax and meditate, etc.) I crash - BIG time! The days I stay calm and
make effort to do so, (and laugh!) I do fairly well considering no thyroid
hormone in my body. I am VERY blessed at this time in my life to be able to
stay home (I know I could not cope in the workplace right now - no way) but I
do have 2 children 5 and 12 1/2 who as those of us who are parents know can be
a BIG stress factor on a GOOD day! MY pre-adolescent son acts like me most
days - foggy! I'm trying to learn to expect it from him. They both go
between my house and their father's so right now that has been an unforeseen
blessing. (I know I'm rambling - i keep blaming it on no meds!)
If i could give any advice to anyone right now it would be to find time
for yourself every day to slow down, breathe deep, count your blessings, relax
w/in yourself and w/ your Higher Power. Think positively - life will get
better, and when you do feel the crash - let others know (as much as possible)
and don't fight it. I found that fighting the crash takes all my energy. If
I can rest for a short time (not sleep necessarily, but rest body) I will feel
better. Sorry for the rambling. Take what you need and leave the rest! God
Bless -
Renee
