I had the same problem as Denel, the doctor would not listen to me. So I
decided to go and see an Endo who was praised by many of my co-workers. My
initial consultation with him was fine, he basically told me all the things
that I had already known, but I thought I would give him a shot.

Yesterday was my 2nd visit with him. I told him that I feel better with the
medication I am on now, but I don't feel "NORMAL"... So he told me that if
I would like to try he would put me on 112 of synthroid.... I accepted the
offer and continued telling him my problems. Of couse he listened, but it
seemed he danced around the problem.

Denel, you mentioned that your periods are irregular? Well mine have not
been normal in over a year. I kept telling him that it is because of my
thyroid, because the DAY after he increased my meds, I had a regular period
again!!!! But he didn't listen to that, he continued to say that it was
because of my weight. He then went on to say that he is thinking of
diagnosing me with PolyCyst Ovarian Syndrome. No testing, nothing.... Just
on two of the symptoms I have: Being fat, and irregular periods. And he
went on saying that a pill called Glucophauge (sp?) would help me and maybe
regulate my period. I am not sure, I still question that diagnoses!

I was reading up on PCOS and the symptoms are SO vague.... Does anyone else
have this condition on the list, or am I the only one? And how can a dr.
properly diagnose without tests?!?!?! I am so frustrated I could just cry!
I told him that I have had my period since May 21st ( and I am wondering if
perhaps it could be a miscarriage), and I asked him when I should worry that
it isn't stopping, and no answer! So he called the OBGYN dept and made yet
another appointment in a week! I am scared now, I need answers now! So I
made another appointment with a different doctor.

I am just so fed up with doctors around here. None of them answer my
questions and it scares me that they just push pills on me... Maybe I am
over reacting and maybe I do have PCOS, but I would like to see the test
results before I beleive that I have it. I live in central Wisconsin, does
anyone know of a specialist, or regular doctor within at 400 mile radius? I
am willing to travel a long way!! I would much rather sit in the car for
six hours and drive to someone who would listen and take the time for a good
treatment instead of driving 80 miles to see some doctor who doesnt answer
your direct questions!!!

Sorry for venting ;-)

Jody ;-)
