I think that you are right about that, IF you have experienced both states in
addition to being healthy, some of the time. I wasted decades of my life,
hypothyroid, cold, tired, and unable to do much beyond work and home. Muscles
were getting weaker, weight going up, cholesterol and blood pressure worse at
each physical exam.
I'm a doc, you'd imagine that I would know this, right? Wrong! Being
hypothyroid robs one of energy, awake time, and intelligence. I was living in
that prison (as were my wife and daughter) for many years. No inkling of what
was wrong.
The veterinarian really tipped us off when he diagnosed our Golden Retriever
with hypothyroidism. Then my daughter put on the 60 pounds (27.27 Kg) in the
last 2 years of High School and first semester at college. We found she was
hypothyroid. It never occurred to me that I was, but I got paranoid and order
a TSH on myself. Luckily, it was really high.
Oh, now I can tell when the meds are off, exactly like you said. But, only
because I been there before.
A prayer for everyone who faces this challenge, and a wish that it doesn't
cost them as much as it did me.
Doc Don
