One of the things that makes a "system" (a group of mutually interacting
parts that are organized for a common goal), both beautiful and complex is
that you cannot change one thing without changing many other factors.
When one is low on estrogen and low on thyroid, the symptoms tend to mollify
each other. If you are low on estrogen, you might not sleep worth a darn.
But, since you are low on thyroid, you collapse at day's end. Add thyroid,
and you end up watching a lot of the late night television because you can't
sleep.
Likewise, being low on estrogen means that the superficial blood vessels on
the face, and upper body are dilated making you somewhat flushed. But, being
low on thyroid tends to constrict some of the same blood vessels (the cold
hands and feet phenomena). Also, you are very unlikely to get a "hot flush"
with a body temperature around 96 degrees (about 35.6 C). Add thyroid, and
you CAN see the problem with hot flushes. That may have happened.
Also, you put a load on your adrenal reserve, cortisol drops, and you can get
similar symptoms.
Someone really needs to take a closer look at everything that is likely to be
related to these problems. There is always to danger that treatment will be
started before the diagnosis is thought out. Attempting treatment, without a
working diagnosis, is less likely to pay off the than State Lottery.
