I had anxiety symptoms when I was given too high a dose of thyroxine,
and they remained for six weeks after stopping all medication. I was
in a state of constant agitation, with inner shaking, palpitations,
rapid pulse, chest pains, buzzing in the ears, sweating, shivering,
and feeling generally deadly.
These feeling were quite strong for a month, which made me think they
couldn't have been thyroxine-related, but they finally tailed off over
the fifth and sixth weeks. I've had similar, but less intense symptoms
since then, when trying to increase my dose of thyroxine (I can't seem
to get above 50 mcg), so am convinced this is what caused the very
frightening 'hyper' episode, at least in my case.
