This light sensitivity is related to the eye's pupils dilation. As far
as I remember reading from most symptom lists it may be present in both
hypo and hyper. Association with hyper is more on the Grav's Eye disease
(Exophthalmos). It does go away with proper thyroid treatment. I'll see
if I have something about this and email via back channel.
