what these groups say is that the methanol liberated from canned soda,
especially those stored in not optimum shelf temperature. i myself use
aspartame in the absence of other sugar substitute and have not
experienced adverse effects. I am more concerned about studies pointed
out by Heller, Vagnini in their book Carbohydrate Addict regarding
aspartame's tendency to induce excessive insulin release.
