Posted a while back about complications and postponed surgery. My
echocardiogram came out ok, the heart guy put me on zestoretic , also am
taking toprol. He did listen and gave me potassium as it was already low and
I'd had problems with it before when on a diuretic.
After 2 1/2 weeks ended up in ER, felt horrible and wasn't sure I wasn't
going to pass out. Ran tests, potassium was still low, also my thyroid was
low. Possibly inner ear problem.
My question is about switching from synthroid to thyrolar. how long would
it take old medication to be out of my system and adjust to new? I was
switched about 2 months ago, after about a month I was feeling better than
I had in quite some time. Then another month and I felt like thyroid or
potassium was getting out of whack. I asked for blood work which I was told
low potassium and thyroid ok (am getting specifics next appt.) Another
three weeks and the ER Dr increased my thyrolar from 1 1/4 grains to 2! I
started taking 1 1/2, took 2 once and had racing heart, too much overall or
just too big an increase? Also gave me dosepak of something for the hives
which I'd had about a week. I'm wondering if they were a delayed reaction
to something in the thyrolar or to zestoretic which was (re)introduced about
a week and a half before. The ER Dr didn't seem to think they were related
to my medicines.
So discouraged., thought I was finally getting somewhere and new problems!
What can you do but keep on tryin?!
Thanks so much for listening.
