This talk of iodine has me wondering.  When I was in high school and
college, it was quite common for my friends and I to sunbathe with a
mixture baby oil and a few drops of iodine (supposedly to make you tan
faster).  Wonder if that had any effect on my thyroid at that time?   We
did this everyday.  Of course this was about the time frame that I had a
"whiplash" injury, and not much later mononucleosis (which are both thought
to contribute to onset of hypothyroidism).  I didn't develop symptoms until
post-partum, many years later (10-15), started to believe the symptoms
could be thyroid about 5 years ago and didn't get diagnosed until about 3
years after that.

I've heard that iodine supplementation isn't good for someone with
UN-treated Hashimoto's, but what about someone being treated?
