Please forgive me if this has been asked and answered before:
I have hashimotos which I got when my son was born. The
endo told me if you have the genetic disposition the chances
become 50/50 that you will get it if you are pregnant.

My son age 11 has gained a little weight lately that he feels very self-
conscious about and has been complaining about feeling tired.
He had Attention defecit disorder which we have so far treated
with neurofeedback (sucessfully) and a visual spatial learning disability.

After reading the listeserv and thinking about his symptoms
and family (my mother father and brother are all hypo and my
husband too it seems) I urged his doctor to test him.

the TSH came back at 5.42
but T4 free non dialysis was 1.20 (within normal)
T4 total was 8.0
and T.3 total was 137

His doctor refreed me to an endo in NY for children but
indicated that he thought no treatement would be required
but to keep an eye on him.
The doctors name is Dr Sharon Oberfield.
(we live in Manhattan (NYC)

My questions are:

Do you agree that if T3 and T4 are alright even though
the TSH is abnormal, that we should do nothing?

does anyone know of Dr Oberfield?
If so what were your experiences with her?
If not, does anyone have any other reccomendations for
a child endo in NYC area?
