I got the settings for the jumpers from Acer's legacy support site, but unfortunately, it does not say which size chips to use or which sockets to use for either configuration. There are 9 large chip sockets (22 or 24 pin?) and a shorter socket (18 or 20 pin, probably for the tag ram chip). I hope there is at least one "old timer" here who may have worked on one of these or has some experience installing L2 cache without the factory instructions. Anybody got any ideas? TIA. Look for parts on eBay, www.google.com , http://groups.google.com/ , and at CSO (Computer Surplus Outlet) - http://www.computersurplusoutlet.com/ .
Also look for this CACHECHK utility, by Ray Van Tassle (was: Alqonuin, IL 60102 USA - 1-708- 658-4941) to verify your results:
" CACHECHK will do memory accesses to check out the L1 and L2 cache, tell you the speeds and sizes of each, and check to see if all of your memory is cached, or if some is non-cached. CACHECTL allows you to turn the L1 cache on or off, and tell you if it's enabled or disabled. " -- Note: This is an old download link; check for others at www.google.com :
