Recently, my friend was typing away on her computer when it started to
give a lot of beeps (like when you fill up the buffer and it won't take
anymore keystrokes). She turned off the computer to do a hard boot. When
she turned it back on, the computer would not boot. It gave an error
message that the keyboard and mouse were not recognized. She tried to
reboot again and get into SETUP mode but no luck. Same message. I am
trying to help her remotely. She does not have a lot of money to start
buying things so I am calling on the experts to help me resolve this.

1. Is there a possibility it could be a virus?

2. Could a USB keyboard and mouse circumvent the problem if it is a
motherboard input failure?

3. Has anyone ever heard of both peripheral inputs failing at the same
time before?

Thanks for any and all advice.
