Now that you mentioned it, I, too, can only eat one modest slice of
watermelon or I belch it for hours.  I can eat squash and zucchini also but
if I have more than one serving I react the same as with the watermelon.

starts tasting more and more like cucumbers (both are members of the
cucurbits), and I  get that urge to burp it as if it were a cucumber.
   This same chemical - or a similar one - is probably why I can't eat raw
squash - especially yellow squash and zucchini. Cooking well seems to
neutralize the effects, which - in effect - would defeat the purpose of
trying to eat as close to natural/paleo as possible.
