Dear Nancy,

First off let me say I understand how frustrated you
are. When it comes to our babies we want to make it
right, right now! It should be a rule that little
kids aren't allowed to suffer - at ALL!

Before my son was FINALLY diagnosed with milk allergy,
my Pediatrician just kept feeding me excuses until I
got so pissed off that I demanded that he DO
something, anything! It took us nearly 3 years to
figure out he was allergic to milk - how sad is that.

Personally I have A LOT of experience with the
Gastroenterologis as I have Crohn's Disease (a chronic
illness that affects the digestive tract). Although
it is unusual for children to develop Crohn's Disease
or it's close relative Ulcerative Colitis (it usually
appears in adulthood)it is not unheard of. Think of
what kinds of things run in your family - think
waaaaaaaaaay back if possible. I've noticed that
gastro problems tend to be genetic although not always
so. Most everyone in my family has some gastro
problem and I'm not talking milk stuff. As far as we
know though, I am the first with Crohn's.

My best bit of advice for you is this - MAKE A BIG
STINK WITH YOUR PEDIATRICIAN!!!!!!!!!!!! If he/she
still doesn't do anything then tell them thanks for
your help thus far - and find a new Pediatrician.
It's hard to believe, but doctors are human and they
do make mistakes. Unfortunately sometimes this comes
at the expense of sweet, innocent children. It is
your job as Tyler's Mommy to do everything you can -
even if that includes yelling to get people to wake up
and act! Don't be afraid and don't put it off like I
did. My poor Sammy suffered all that time because I
believed what our Pediatrician told us, because I
didn't feel I had the right to tell a "Doctor" what to
do

Call your Pediatrician today and tell them that you
want something done NOW! If they don't start running
some tests asap then find a doc who will - they are
out there!

HUGS to you and Tyler. You can do it, you are Mommy
and you are invincible! 8o) Debby
