Same reason I prefer to cut my hair "high & tight" (buzz cut) in the summer.
In my own "hippie" days I had shoulder length hair and a beard (which I
still grow at times in the winter).  Not the easiest coif' to deal with.

Oddly enough, short hair is stylish among young men, so it makes me feel
downright youthful (NOT!  Short hair AND a tanker truck full of Grecian
Formula might do the trick, though.)

On that note, there was an article in yesterday's "Columbus Dispatch" (local
paper) regarding baby-boomers lining (no pun intended) up for botox
injections.  Not, they're not all suddenly becoming spastic.  It's the
latest craze in eliminating facial creases ("laugh lines", "crow's feet",
etc.).  Seems that the 'Boomers worship of youth is catching up with them.
The article contained some pretty amazing quotes from people--men and
women--desperate to retain youthful appearance.

I'll be ecstatic if I can keep putting one foot in front of the other, and
these people are worrying about crow's feet? Feh!

I happen to think body hair is a lot less rebellious than tattoos or
piercings.  It's a personal preference and doesn't matter to me in other
women.  It's just that I prefer to shave. <shrug>  It gets rather hot and
humid here in the South, and feels more comfortable without armpit hair when
I sweat a lot. I might not do it if it weren't so humid in the summertime.
