Jenn,

A thought has occurred to me. Do you have to get to a hospital or to
a private dr's surgery? I was thinking about the way we have things
set up here in Western Australia, and although things will be
different in your end of the cosmos, it might trigger off some other
options for you - ie there may be something similar. For hospitals,
if the patient has no way of getting to the hospital for treatment -
ie can't use pub. trans., can't afford taxis, no friends or relatives
that can transport them; then there is a volunteer transport system
set up, where the hospital has volunteers who will pick people up and
take them to and from the hospital. Of course if you need to get to a
private dr's surgery (I'm sorry, can't for the life of me remember - I
know you've said), then that isn't an option, but in THAT case, does
the city have volunteer agencies who do this sort of thing, like the
Red Cross or something, or what about the local independent living
centres or equivalent?
