This is a very complex issue, and one most libraries can not afford to
deal with effectively. The easiest way to deal with it is to print out
the fiche contents and then use a program such as Openbook or K1000 to
read the document back to the user.

Subject: Making microfiche accessible?? Help??

I had the following question forwarded to me. If someone can help,
please e-mail me [log in to unmask]

Quoted request follows:

My daughter is legally blind and we have acquired a book that is
available only on microfiche. It is 7 microfiche with 98 book page
images on each fiche except the last one which has about 20. We are
trying to find an organization that would be able to print out the
individual pages from the so that my daughter can read the book. Could
you give us any directions toward accomplishing this?
