Many thanks to everyone who responded to my request for resources in the 
North East of England.  

The concensus is that there is a growing awareness of gluten-intolerance 
in the UK, and that some of the major stores are carrying a range of gluten-
free products.  These include 'Marks & Spencers' 'Tesco' and 'Safeway' as 
well as a number of pharmacies (Chemists in the UK) and Health Food stores.
