Hi. I have a million allergies, thyroid disease and candida. Have always
thought that I had a gluten intolerance and or at the least a wheat
intolerance. When I went on the "cave man" candida diet two years ago
(gluten free, yeast free, sugar free, alcohol free, dairy free diet) I
actually managed to stop the monthly yeast infections for 6 months, dropped
15 lbs, face cleared up, mental health was restored, etc etc.
I finally requested testing for CD when I read an interesting article
suggesting that thyroid disease was quite common in CD and if a gluten free
diet was followed, the thyroid disease usually cleared up.
I had the initial test through my Primary Care Physician who didn't even
know what test to order, had to look them up. These came back as the
following:
Gliadin AB IgA 11 (negative)
Gliadin AB IgG 59 (strong positive)
She didn't even know how to read the test and told me that since I had
tested positive for having it in the past that I should probably assume
that I had it and go on the GF diet.
I then went and saw a Gastro who ordered the following:
transglutaminase AB (IGA) 6 (negative)
He told me I didn't have it and to have a nice life.
The problem is is that I still feel that this isn't conclusive. I've been
on and off GF diets for the past 2 years, most recently for 2 weeks (on a
cleanse) in May. From everything I've read this could have screwed up the
results.
What should I do and does anybody know of a great gastro or a Holistic
Physician in Nothern NJ? Thanks for your help.
