Hello,
I just had a total thyroidectomy. The size of my tumor was smaller than expected - less than 1/4 inch. Consequently, because of this and since there was no evidence of spreading, my doctor is recommending I DO NOT have RAI. I am wondering if anyone has information on whether this is a good decision. I believe my surgeon is excellent and he has given me superb treatment to date. However, I'd like to ensure that I take every precaution that it doesn't return. He says there's less than 1% chance of reoccurance and that it doesn't warrant the effects of RAI. Anyone experienced out there with any thoughts.
Thank you,
corbina
