There is most definitely a connection. Prior to addisons diagnosis, in
my undiagnosed hypoadrenal state, my cholesterol was off-the-charts low.
I'm on Cortef, and it hasn't increased the cholesterol. I suspect I'm going
to try to raise it.
I was thinking maybe it was the low cholesterol that causes the low adrenals,
but in your experience the low adrenals caused the low cholesterol.
Hypothyroidism can cause a rise in cholesterol, but not everyone is the same.
I'm hypo and have low cholesterol. But, thyroid meds for those with high
cholesterol had been known to lower it.
Actually, cholesterol is produced by the liver. Without functioning adrenals
it probably didn't have enough energy to produce adequate cholesterol until
they were treated.
