Skipper,
There is most definitely a connection. Prior to addisons diagnosis, in
my undiagnosed hypoadrenal state, my cholesterol was off-the-charts low.
I mean, total cholesterol was under 100. drs. always shook their
heads... then after Cortisol replacement therapy began in 1994,
suddenly it shot up to 260! After the initial overreplacement, gradual
lowering took place, and i didn't have cholesterol checked until I
reached the 'fine-tuning' stage, a couple years later. It is now 173.
and at age 47 I am happy with that :-)
If my thyroid is next to go, hypothyroidism causes a rise in cholesterol
too, doesn't it?
Holly
