The ability to process and comprehend. I have recently tested a 5th grade
girl for APD-she shows significant processing deficits when minimal amounts
of noise are introduced, when speech is mildly muffled and in remembering
directions longer than 2 steps (ex, pick up your shoes and put them away--2
steps). She is hypothyroid, taking .1 mg daily ("yellow" Synthroid). Her
last bloodwork was in November at Crippled Children's Hospital. Her mother
says she can go for a checkup in June if necessary so I need to find
information on the effects, if any, of hypothyroidism on Auditory Processing
skills. I found 2 short letters from you in the archives, but I need more
information. Thanks.
Laurie
