Beta blockers reduce the EFFECT of adrenalin by blocking adrenalin
receptors.  There are two types of beta receptors:  beta 1 and beta 2.
Heart has predominantly one type of receptor and the lung has predominantly
the other type.  Asthmatics frequently are prescribed beta agonists which
increase the EFFECT of adrenalin in their lungs, causing bronchodilation.
It's possible to be prescribed a beta agonist specific largely for the lung
type receptors, and beta blockers specific largely for the heart type
receptors.
