Dear Thyroid Folks,

Two more points on the natural vs. chemical
thread:

1.) Substances referred to as 'natural' are, in
truth, technically, composed of chemicals.
Chemicals are atoms and molecules and
combinations thereof, such as elements
and minerals. Proteins, in this view, are
carbon-based chemicals, for instance. Living
things, such as plants and animals, are also
composed, physically, of chemicals.

2.) Some believe that, once a substance
has been imbued with life, that substance
carries a new and different character, a
character more attuned to life. This teaching
says that each object has a character that
can be recognized, and that life imbues a
special, extra form of this character.

It is on the basis of the second belief that
some people prefer 'previously living'
substances, such as Armour Thyroid, over
substances that are "chemically similar"
or even "chemically identical." They believe
that a previously living substance is more
'compatible' with the needs of our currently
living bodies than another substance that
was synthesized by manufacturers from
minerals, for instance, rather than created
by a living plant or living animal.

Some medical scientists, and others without
tolerance, ignore the second belief because
*they* cannot yet observe and measure the
difference between T3 made in an industrial
plant and T3 made in a living pig. Without
proof, they say the second belief is silly and,
by circular definition, groundless.

I suspect they simply don't know how to
measure >everything< quite yet. <grin>

As always, your mileage may vary (YMMV).

 Pax,
