My Endocrinologist wants me to have an Iodine
Scan to examine my enlarged thyroid. In order to
get an accurate test result, I have to be off the
Levoxyl for 3 straight weeks! My dosage is 50
mcg. I have been off of it since 3/01. Already I
have developed "brain fog"! I asked the endo dr.
about that. He just said I'd feel a bit more
tired than usual, but to get back on the med as
soon as the test is thru! I am a lot more tired
than usual! I am able to work, but am tired when
I get home. I go to bed earlier, but wake up
tired, too. He was going to talk to my primary
dr. about getting me tested for sleep apnea, too.
I have yet to hear back from the insurance
company about that. Also, when I do go back on
Levoxyl, he wants to increase the dosage to 75
mcg. I tried this briefly before going off of it
on 3/01. I noticed pains in my stomach and
abdomen (not nausea), which went away after
awhile. I wonder if I would be able to split the
pill and take 1/2 in the morning and the other
1/2 at night. When I did take this higher dose I
noticed that I slept much better at night, as a
result.
I sure hope this Iodine Scan explains to the endo
dr. what is wrong with my thyroid. He said it
could well turn out to be just a simple goiter.
I am having the scan done on 3/21 & 3/22. All
comments are appreciated!
