Acid reflux and ulcers is something I have definitely had for a number of
years. I've had problems with the ulcers bleeding etc. Anyway, I am able
to keep that under control for the most part.

The trouble swallowing certain things, especially larger pills or vitamins
is something that is new wit
hin the last several months. The pain from
that seemed independent of the ulcers, since the the highest one is in the
chest....the pills would not even get that far down before causing me a
problem. The thyroid pills were terrible and near impossible to get down.
They seemed to just stop in my throat...very painful. Regardless of what
drank after, they seemed to remain there for a couple of hours. Sometimes I
still feel a 'lump' in the throat, but it is not painful. Now I can
swallow pills again with little trouble. I did suspect later (after it
improved) that it was thyroid related. However, I'd not thought of a
goiter...?. I never noticed any visible signs of a lump in my neck (which
is what I thought a goiter might be).

Two reasons they can't prescribe Armour. No naturopathic doctor can write
prescriptions (in Canada), and Armour is not available here.

I did wonder about wilsons syndrome, but from what I read blood tests
typically app
ear normal with that. I've had two blood tests indicating low
thyroid. One said it was very low, another said it was low but not as
severe. However from my understanding, Wilsons is caused by or worsened by
stressful or emotional situations, causing the body to not properly convert
the T4 to T3. I wondered if maybe that may be a problem in addition to
whatever other type of hypothyroidism I would have which can affect blood
levels....Possibly explaining why I'm having trouble ending symptoms. The
doctors I've seen are not thyroid specialists and know little more than I
do about it.

I came across this site yesterday which seems to indicate that after
several years with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, the thyroid begins to
deteriorate. Not the greatest site (in my opinion), but it might explain
some of the issues discussed under the subject "disapearing thyroid". I
know nothing about it at all...j
ust passing on what I read incase it is
helpful to some. It is in the first paragraph of the subheading "Thyroid
deficiency"....
