Even on the smallest dose (of thyroid meds), I simply don't sleep. My doctors
don't believe me, so I may be going back to try the
naturopathic route with another supplement.

You may need to get your estrogen levels checked as well as your adrenals. I went through this same thing, and it's very confusing because too much thyroid meds can also cause insomnia. However, I've noticed a difference. On too much thyroid replacement, I have trouble getting to sleep, can't sleep long, but wake up alert and able to function. With low estrogen, I tend to be tired at bed time, but then sleep fitfully and wake up in the middle of the night, unable to get back to sleep sometimes for hours. (sometimes this was accompanied by the feeling that bugs were crawling on my legs....a menopause symptom called formica.) In the morning, I would feel tired and groggy and have trouble doing word puzzles and thinking straight.
Once my estrogen levels got straightened out, the insomnia went away. I do have to be very careful about having anything with caffeine also....can no longer tolerate coffee and only limited amounts of tea.
