I have just been diagnosed with a nodule and have to have another scan
but the possibility is that I will need a total thyroidectomy. My
question is : why do people who have a thyroidectomy still take
thyroxine? I am currently on T3 only because I am told my thyroid has
failed. If I cannot convert T4 when I still have a thryoid (albeit not
funcitoning) how can someone without a thyroid take T4 with any hope
of symptoms being relieved? This confuses me.
Thanks in advance.
Vicki
