Dr. David Derry recommends 1 drop a day of Lugol's Iodine Solution (in a
drink or on the skin). He has a knack for saying outrageous things...that
turn out to be true. Iodine plays a major role in more than thyroid function,
and used carefully, small amounts can be helpful. It is reputed to have an
anticancer effect. I am still looking for references on the latter.
I wrote him back, and asked about the "jolly Roger" on the bottle, and my
concerns that it would mess up what thyroid I had left or I'd get poisoned.
The skull and cross bones got put on the bottles after docs were giving
people this stuff intravenously!
I've used it for about a year, and don't notice much either way. Lots of
stains on things, though. (photographic "hypo" works well to remove the
stains)
