<< their brain starts working better, and

Yes, this is true. When we were severe hypothyroid we would come home and on
the way down to the couch fall asleep. Our lazy (really hypothyroid) would
come over and hassle us for a couple hours to bathe the little children or
whatever else she was to lazy (hypothyroid) to do. She always said it took
no energy to talk. I knew her capabilities, she could do all these things
herself easily (in those spurts when she wasn't hypo or before it started),
there was no reason I should come home from work and be too tired to do
anything and be so harrased.
There was no energy there to do anything for a very long time. The home
demands I couldn't handle in the early 90's and didn't subside until 2000,
except for 1998, when I was first treated, and was on an adequate doseage.
After years of limping with foot pain, not only was I tired I was unable to
do anything that would keep me in shape, walking is rather important, but
plantar fascitis sometimes won't go away until you get adequate treatment for
your thyroid. Never in my life did I think I would consider that a related
condition.
So, now I'm awake, on 10 grains, and haven't felt this good in decades and I
know I'm much farther behind in my life than I should be. I'm behind
financially especially because of the chronic fatigue that occured after
diagnosis. You would think once diagnosed, there's the answer to all your
problems. I knew for years my wife had a thyroid problem but thought the
hard part was the diagnosis. I was wrong. Treatment is equally difficult to
get from most doctors.
Sometimes, it's depressing realizing where I might have been. Doc Don has
said to me that people complain about his prices, but the truth is if they
came to him first, they would have been able to buy a new car with the
savings. Based on my medical bills, that's a severe underestimate. And not
only do you have the bills but the chronic fatigue keeping your income down.
So, from time to time when you wake up and see where you are, you might wish
you had some prozac on hand. You might even wonder if you're really going to
survive. Doc Don has mentioned some patients who came to him, but went to
cardiologists and other doctors and let those doctors decrease the medicime
that was helping them. I occassionally wonder if it's because they were used
to their suffering and waking up was just too much for them to handle. I
kind of liked that mental state where I didn't have to be affected by
anything because I was too tired to think or react.
