Hi, Judy,

After landing in the emergency room with atrial fibrillation over Christmas,
my doctor lowered my thyroid medication a bit. The thyroid specialist at the
hospital said that it is better to be slightly hypothyroid than to risk the
problems attendanat with atrial fibrillation from too high a dose of thyroid
medication, which can irritate a sensitive heart muscle.

Actually, the fibrillation was coming on in spells of up to an hour about
every other day until I took a wild guess and went entirely off of
Nutrasweet (Aspartame) about a week and a half ago. I have read that one
infrequent and odd side affect of Nutrasweet can be atrial fibrillation. I
haven't had a spell in one and a half weeks. Perhaps my heart is already
irritable because of the thyroid medication, and this tipped the scales. Who
knows?

Betsy
