Hi everyone,
I am new here to the thyroid list since I have several autoimmune diseases
including Graves. Now my 16 yr. old son is now diagnosed with Graves.
Just want to share a little research:
Received my copy of http://www.ra-infection-connection.com/
Targeting and Treating the Cause of Chronic Illness. I have no interest in
promoting this book, only being a satisfied consumer of gaining more
knowledge into autoimmune diseases. I am not a doctor and in no way
recommending this treatment, but only to bring to your attention.
Page 9 has a listing of 59 autoimmune diseases. I have read other bulletin
boards of people with several autoimmune diseases. According to the
www.aarda.org these autoimmune diseases are being looked at as one.
Here is what page 179
says: "Thyroid Testing - According to the thyroid
society, twenty million Americans have some form of thyroid dysfunction but
many are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. The thyroid gland controls the body's
metabolism by producing hormones that regulate energy, control heart rate
and body weight, and determine how the body uses nutrients. Thyroid test
results, therefore, can be a valuable indicator of nutritional balance and
efficient use of hormones.
Thyroid dysfunction, notably Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and Grave's Disease,
has been shown to be linked to mycoplasmal infection. One of two types of
antibodies-thyroperoxidase or thyroglobulin-is found in nearly all patients
with hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's thryoiditis) and in approximately 50% of
those with hyperthyroidism (Grave's Disease). Mary Shomon has coordinated
an excellent Internet resource for those who wish to know about thyroid
conditions and to fi
nd a qualified practioner for diagnosis and treatment.
This compreshensive overview is called "Thyroid Disease 101: Basic
Information on Hypothyroidism, Hyperthyroidism, Nodules, Goiter, and
Thyroid Cancer."
I would advise anyone who is interested in reading about autoimmune
disorders to order this book. It's time we all started
spreading the word about autoimmune diseases. They should all be looked at
as one. Dr. N. also states that 90% of all tumors have mycoplasma/virus in
them. He is a world renowned cancer researcher.
There is also an excellent index of websites in the back of the book. I
really highly recommend reading this.
Happy Reading,
Elaine
