I urge you to search the archives of this group. They can be found at
"www.emissary.net/thyroid"
I think you will find that many who got RAI or surgery to alleviate their
hyperthyroid condition found themselves hypothyroid. And doctors do not
treat this condition well. I would read what real people have to say about
it,not the doctors making money by doing it.
It's like when I had sleep apnea from my hypothryoid condition being
undertreated the ENT was willing to do surgery to see if it helped but he
didn't bother telling me it was a common problem in hypothyroidism. If he
had since I had been asking for an increase in Armour for several months, I
would have known long before the time it took to get two sleep studies and a
CPAP breathing machine. I opted CPAP because the surgery wasn't guarnateed
to work. When I got the CPAP and it didn't change how tired I was, I
increased Armour and the first night the apnea was gone and has never came
back.
Don't trust your doctors, see what patients have to say.
Yes, when you are sitting in your chair, practically in a coma because your
thyroid is under treated, wishing you had enough energy to do something,
isn't the time to wonder if there's a better solution.
