My pharmacist was unable to get 50 mcg Cytomel for my timed release T3 for a
while so he switched one strength of my pills (37.5 mcg) from cytomel to T3
powder. The T3 powder was not as strong. I don't think it was anywhere
close in strength. He now has the correct Cytomel, until he got it, I did
not use the medication in that strength. The pharmacy is in Battle Creek and
generally does a good job. The pharmacist there learned how to compound the
T3 when Dr. Streeter was practicing in Portage, MI. Due to pressure on his
alternative methods he was forced to move to Elkhart, IN. Rumor had it the
FDA was after him for his treatments of thyroid and chelation, but since FDA
is federal I don't know how moving to a city in a state an hour away stops
the FDA. I've heard good things about the chelation.
Note in regard to the strength of the prescription, I doubt that most
pharmacies would have told us they were changing the formula. If they hadn't
we would have gotten worse without a clue as to why. I thought it was just
me at first, because I kept asking my wife what she thought about it. She
was sick, she thought the fatigue she had was from that, but when her feet
began to swell, something that happens to her when hypo, she changed her mind
and told me I was right, it really was the medicine.
Good compounding is important, without it, you might think the Wilson
treatment doesn't help, when it's really your answer. Pharmacists have been
caught doing all kinds of wrong things in the process which you can check out
at wilsonssyndrome.com.
