Doctors don't mind giving huge doses of prednisone for allergies, far more
than they need in spite of the bad side effects, but they hate replacement
doses of anything. Replacemt doses os prozac, phen-phen type drugs, ritalin,
these are ok, but don't think about replacing natural hydrocortisone or
thyroid, it would just cause people to fall apart and have heart attacks.

My last family doctor kicked me out of her practice for suggesting my son
might be dying from a thyroid problem, based on the symptom of near death,
and my asking for hydrocortisone. I think we've got to find a way to punish
these doctors who won't give us what we need. Drug abuse is one thing, not
getting natural substances to your body that it's low on is something else.
If a doctor tells you no to a test for a condition you think you might have
tell him thanks for the advice it's worth what I'm going to pay, and walk out
without doing so. (but see an attorney in your state, laws may vary.
However if you dropped off your car at a mechanic for a test and when you got
back it wasn't perfomed, would you pay him? I fail to see the difference.)

Incidentallly, there was no doubt I needed hydrocortisone and I felt better
the very first day.

Every once in a while I go into an 'I hate doctors mood' but then I remember
how my doctor treats me with respect and compassion and Doc Don and I get
over it. There are some good ones out there.
