Thank you to all who responded. For some of you please remember your
comments should be helpful not critical!

Some people wanted to know how to go about getting classified as 504 etc. I
did not have to do this. I found the information in the school calendar that
the superintendant puts out and followed the directions. Please be aware
that I have been writing and calling and sending doctors notes since last
April. At first no one responded at all. Someone at the superintendant's
office told me kids with allergies bring their lunch. So if it is worth it
to you be patient, flexible and reasonable.

Well my daughter did get to have her lunch on Friday. The Food services
director made it herself. A 100% beef hamburger, gluten free rice, apple and
milk. I brought the ketchup and will leave abottle there. I went to the
school to check. The director used separate utensils and pots she bought for
justfor my daughter, she used pan liners and cooked the food in a different
oven than the other kids foods. She even put on gloves. My daughter's food
was waiting for her on a disposable tray all wrapped in plastic so it
wouldn't get contaminated after preparation. My daughter was really happy
and had eaten the whole hamburger before I even left.

I gave the food service director some information people sent to me such as
how to get a brochure on accomodating special diets for school food service
personnel and names of other school districts that are accomodating celiac
children. For now the food service director will provide a meal once a week
and she is going to send all her personnel to a seminar on safe food handling.

Thanks again to those who responded.

Steve
