Keep in mind that an install of a cable modem using a USB plug does not require the installer to open your computer, which saves time.  The installers get paid per job, and the faster they can do each one the more money they make.  Also less chance of screwing up your system and having to come back.  All in all, I believe, and have been told, that a NIC is a better connection.
