I must confess, I am a semi-recent fan of this show. I only saw one episode
of the first season, and none of the second, but I couldn't help watching
the third and fourth.

The fourth season is kind of interesting because this time around they
aren't given any food (supposedly, who knows if this is the truth or not
where television is concerned as in the 3rd season they were guarded around
the clock by armed guards to protect them from wild animals and this was
kept secret, I only found out by a comment one of the contestants made on
Letterman).

So the main diet of this group these last few days has been from what I can
see a combination of boiled-fried coconut, taro root and once in a while
some snails from the sea. I don't really see them eat anything else. They
are very poor hunter gatherers, they can't and don't really seem to try to
catch fish, birds, or any sort of game. It's starting to get to them,
because it is becoming visible that their energy is dropping very low,
they're starting to starve and they're spending most of their time lying
around talking about sweets to conserve their energy now. Marking time off
until the show is over. Once in a while they win a reward challenge, which
is some food for 1 person and it's always something that I wouldn't really
recommend for starving people. If these people were really stranded, I
would definitely predict cannibalism to occur since they seem to be
helpless.

It's really quite interesting. The preview for this coming week's show
indicates that they're starting to get mentally unstable presumably due to
their poor diet. The other campsite they had, was better in that they could
catch crabs and the like and there were some fruits. I'm not sure why they
were all moved to the inferior one.

For those who don't know where they are, they're in the Marquesas islands.

Best,
P.
