Sorry to hear you are down w/ the flu Bonnie.....
When you are sick your body releases hormones to help fight the disease-
they can cause a rise in bg levels.
*Keep a closer check on your bg levels to make sure they don't get out
of hand.
* Drink plenty of liquids. If you are losing fluids by vomiting, fever
or diarrhea, you may need nondiet soft drinks or sports drinks w/ sugar
or carbohydrate. If vomiting or diarrhea are severe, try sipping 3 to 6
ounces an hour to keep bg stable.
* Beware of cold & flu meds that have gluten, and many will raise bg &
bp. Some meds contain sugar & alcohol
* Keep track of what meds you took & when
* Take your temp
* Try to keep things as stress free as posssible
Call your Doctor if
* You are taking oral meds & bg levels are over 240 for more than 24
hours
* You have difficulty breathing
* Anything else seems awry, or the condition is prolonged.
Sending some *cyber 7-up* your way!
Hope you are feeling better- soon
Fran
