It just seems that with all the breakthroughs in
medicine, pain relief be one of most worked on.

The Cochler implant is simply amazing. I have a long
way to go yet in making full use of it but it's been
great fun. Voices are finally beginning to sound more
normal. DH sounded very much like Micheal Jackson the
first night it was turned on. Alex I still couldn't
hear. The following day they did more mapping(
playing with tuning each electrode...there's 22 of
them) to get better sound quality. Hubby sounded more
normal but Alex sounded like he sucked helium all
night. Since he loves to sing( and his big brothers
love to teach him rap songs) you can imagine listening
to what sounded like Alfalfa from the 'lil rascals
singing rap while sucking helium. Was really hard to
keep a straight face.Speech despite the voice
distortions is cyrstal clear however which is such a
blessing. Right now I'v got aches, pains, headache and
queasy stomach...figured I picked up something on
those ER trips with Alex last week, so I have the
option of taking the CI off and putting the pillow
over my head in blessed silence.
Joanne
