Nobody bothered to explain this?

Some years ago, CBS News anchorman Dan Rather was assaulted on a Manhattan
sidewalk (near the CBS News studios) by what he described as a group of
well-dressed men, who, between blows, repeatedly asked him: "Kenneth, what
is the frequency?"

This mysterious-at-the-time event inspired a lot of jokes and even a
rock-n-roll song by I forget which band (R.E.M. maybe?). Dan Rather took
it in good humor and even appeared on stage with that band when they
performed the song at a concert.

Some years later, the mystery unraveled -- it turned out that the assault
was committed by just one (not counting bystanders) very ordinary paranoid
schizophrenic and violent guy who thought that Rather was controlling his
brain through an implanted radio receiver. He wanted to know the
frequency of the radio transmissions, yadda yadda.

Try a Google search ("dan rather" frequency kenneth) to find full details,
names, dates, etc.
