It still applies to translations, though. I wonder whether the
original passage of German legalese might actually be a translation
from English into German.
That would be pretty funny.

As Frau Nisam, my HS German teacher taught us regarding translations and
women: "Sind sie schoen, sind sie nicht Treu; sind sie Treu, sind sie nicht
schoen." What was funny in the olden days turns out to be sexist racist
piggism now, even if it did come from a female personage. Who later went to
the loony bin.
