Running too fast to ground myself;
working late nights in London.
Needed a break, so thought I'd feast on the BP
backlog;
found my email account stuffed and overflowing.
Trawled through the past and found more of the same;
deleted it and moved forward.
Discovered the list-meisters (human or robot)
had deleted me when the email started to bounce.
Worked painstakingly through the resubscription
process;
Dan tells me I even got that wrong!
Trying the Digest this time;
in the hope that this may help filter the flow.
Why did I return - well may I ask?
More of Michael's 'oh-so-insightful', writing to die
for;
and ][<en's random observations, cutting straight to
the point in a roundabout way.
The sense of community, and tolerance of others',
shall we say, peccadilloes;
the realisation that my email writing needs sharpening
(and who better than the Pinheads to hone the edges).
Divorce, settlements, restructuring at work;
commuting between London and Sydney.
New partner, living on the harbour;
seafood barbecues on the deck on balmy summer nights.
Discovering anew the joys of language;
and the power (good and bad) of communication.
These are the things that keep me from BP;
and yet, they bring me back as well.
I'll be a less frequent participant;
nay, maybe even a lurker.
But whilst I float around the edge of our virtual
community;
I'll know its part of my world.
Cheers
david
