I would see a big difference between fruit and salad/veg.
The difference is the sugar content.
Fruit has sugar, salad not.
Fruit is digessted and assimilated very quickly, a big fruitserving is out
of the stomach within minutes (30 or so).
Meat has a long resting time in the stomach, it's protein needs to be
split up. Particularly when it is with abundant fat, which delays further.
If you eat a melon together or after a steak, the fruit sugar will
rest in the stomach for some time unabsorbed, and then enter the intestine
together with the protein shake. For a sloww passage.
What I have read and what is also my impression:
The sugar together with the protein int the gut will feed primarily some
unfriendly gut bacteria.
I don't see a problem with vegetables and salad, but a melon with it's
abundant sugar should be eaten very seperate from meat or other protein
food. 1/2 hour before or at least 2-3 hours after a main meal.
Just a little more explanation for my opinion and I think it supports
Rachel's and others view as well.
