I second the idea of a camp, paleo style.  I recommend the Big Island.
(of
Hawai'i) which probably has quite a few potential places to look into,
and in fact, there are a few "intentional communities" running around,
including a few "near-paleo" on that island.

If anyone is really interested in this, I would love to move forward on
it somehow.  I know very little however about how to do this.  I was
hoping to "train" on the big island with a group called "pangaia" but
all attempts to contact them have failed, over the course of several
years.
