Picked up a book last year-
King Leopold's Ghost about the Belgium Congo
Slavery, Genocide etc really awful....
But what is pertinent to this discussion is the author's discovery that
Joseph Conrad had been in the Congo & witnessed many of the
depravations who would go on to write about in " Heart of Darkness"...
Blah, Blah, Blah-- Alegory of man's deepest fears and secret fantasies..

Blah, Blah, Blah Germinal myth/memories of antediluvian conflict...

However as he did discover Mark Twain/Samuel Clements active
participation
in the anti-Belgium movement we are back to bolstering the
satirical component of Huck Finn
