I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Joe's Stone Crab (60 N Grand,
Chicago) today.  When I mentioned a wheat "allergy" the waitress asked me
about modified food starch!  Then she showed me a pink ticket that they
complete for everyone who has a food allergy.  It took us probably an extra
20 minutes or so to get our food - but they checked all the ingredients in
everything I was interested in ordering - and the waitress said they guarded
against cross-contamination!  I was totally astounded at their level of
knowledge.  (She even knew who costarred with Russell Crowe in A Beautiful
Mind.)

Naturally, I gave a generous tip - and will go back there whenever I can.
