I posted requesting information on Wasa GF crispbread--rice and corn
variety, made in Europe and distributed by Liberty Richter in the US.
The importer has not been able to fill orders since this past summer.

People living in California, Arizona and Colorado responded the product
is still available in stores there, but perhaps this is old stock. A
few people wrote that GF Wasa is available in Sweden and Germany and one
who lives in Sweden very kindly researched it futher and found the
crispbread is still made in Switzerland by Roland Murten AG. The
company said "the demand in the US has gone down and the supermarkets
are not willing to sell it, so the export has been stopped due to low
volume. It was suggested that I contact them directly through:
www.alimarca.com/plants/roland_ch/profile-en.html I have not received
any response.

I also received one response that the manufacturer can no longer
guarantee the product is GF due to cross contamination issues and is
looking for an alternate facility.

The written response from Liberty Richter, importer follows...

...We regret to inform you that this product has been discontinued
recently. The principal reason for the discontinuation was the fact
that WASA has lost control of the plant in Switzerland where this
product has been manufactured. So far no solution has been found in
finding another manufacturing location with the strict controls
necessary for this product.

We are sorry for not being able to give you more favorable information
and remain, Yours sincerely, Charles A Lawner, Quality Assurance Consultant

So, it seems for now, if you are able to find any boxes--buy them up and
enjoy them. We are not likely to see them soon again, if at all. Thank
you to all who so kindly responded, Carol
