-Ice!! to mitigate swelling so you may be to get a shoe one.  Tape it for
support during activity if the swelling is down.  I use Newchapter brand
ginger extract (very concentrated) as an anti-inflammatory; they also have a
cox-2 inhibitor that has ginger and several other components such as
turmeric.  It works for me as well as vioxx did for a hip with a cartilage
problem.  I recall sprains from college football that stiffened up terribly
overnight and which then loosened up as the day went on and I went about my
business.  If your ligaments are torn badly,  you may sol for a really rapid
recovery.  But your message made it sound like there was not tearing that
would require casting:  definitely a good sign.  I bet it will improve
faster than you think!  Good luck.
